What began as a family grain business in the
early 1940’s, today Demeter continues to operate
grain facilities and has expanded into the business
of commercial warehousing.
The company’s roots are in
agriculture. With a rich history dating back to 1944,
the company is recognized as an innovative leader in
Agribusiness. The Grain Division remains
the cornerstone of the company, operating four country
elevators in northern Illinois (South Beloit, Ridgefield,
Chemung, and Hampshire). Each facility has a knowledgeable
staff ready and anxious to provide the best possible
service to our customers. Call us before you sell!
In the early 1980s, the company
identified a need for commercial space and began the
business known today as Demeter Logistics.
The first warehouse was designed as a dual-purpose building.
It was first used to store surplus grain for the government.
As the grain surplus was depleted, the building was
converted into commercial warehouse space. The Logistics
Division has since expanded to include over
250,000 square feet of premium warehouse space
located in two primary markets, South Beloit, Illinois
and Lafayette, Indiana. South Beloit is located just
off Interstate 90 at the Illinois-Wisconsin state line
about 75 miles northwest of Chicago. Lafayette, Indiana
is on Interstate 65 125 miles southeast of Chicago and
70 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
The family tradition and values
continue with the business still owned and managed by
the family. The Demeter Team approaches each
customer with the same philosophy: to provide the best
information and service, and the best solution to meet
the customer’s needs efficiently and effectively.
